The art of Magebane
Some rangers can sit on multiple targets and interupt the opposing team so perfectly the game is over in no time.
Im not talking about spammers either.
I have friends who can do this.
They all tell me their sucess has alot to do with there ping.
If u are one of these freaky int rangers please share your tricks. e.g : when to use magebane.
Also. I suffer from Aussie ping disorder. So my ping is always avg 400 ms.
Is it possible to interupt with such a ping.

Mine is always around 300, yeah you can interrupt. There's no trick to it really, just interrupt anythign that stops your team from killing. It's such a short recharge, just fire away.

its possible, but your probably not going to be able to reflex interrupt anything below 1 second casting time. as for when to use magebane, you have to observe the behavior of the enemy, if they tend to spam skills, fire magebane right after they use a skill, if they are running, use it the moment you see them stop, if they are knocked down, use it the moment they get back up, and try to foresee casts by watching the recharge times of said skill.
Thats all i got

those are actually very good tips, i would also suggest if the monk is a knd that wait until ppl are lower than 50% hp to use WoH watch the monk when someone health drop below 50%. Another is most monks tend to use heals as soon as they get up from a KD. If interrupting mesmer i would suggest you dont try to interrupt anything below 1sec cast time, reason being fast casting. ill post some more later but i g2g for now. Oh and practise

yep... predicting helps alot... however rangers have enough interrupts to just spam them non stop, so it doesnt matter all that much.

It is painfully easy to avoid being interrupted by a spamming ranger. Just cast during the cool-downs in between each attack.

and spamming means energy which isn't unlimited and its rather easy to run out even with a zealous string.

If your using a zealous string your doing something wrong. Basically wait for 1 second casts or higher to come up doesn't hurt to throw out a few random interrupts every once in a while.

it's possible to reflex interrupt with your ping but it's so annoying... i play with 300/400 ping average in international districts and it pisses me off to no end when i miss a 3/4 sec cast and even sometimes a 1 second cast because of pings spikes (500+) but i can get them easily when my ping drops to 200 or so.
So in short yes you can reflex interrupt but dont expect to get many 3/4's, anticipating interrupts helps alot few examples:
Most monks when they drop to very low hp tend to use patient or rof followed directly by woh so you can predict the interrupt
knowing and counting the recharge of spells ~ b surge has a recharge of 4 if the ele is spamming count 4 after he uses and go for the interrupt etc
Also ive been able to predict d shots on foul feast ~ when the necro has drawn all your conditions spread again and you can expect them to use foul feast 3-4 times back to back in quick succession so try to get the 2nd or 3rd foul.
Its pretty easy to guess interrupt on attack chains go for the d shot after the first kd to get crushing or directly after a sin shadow step to get his lead/offhand etc.
Another tip is to watch melee who have energy based attacks (dervish/sins) & SoM mesmers approach your team and interrupt as soon as they reach touching distance, you can easily d shot wound strike/SoM this way.
The rest is just intuition, just go with the interrupt if you think you can catch something but best not to spam yourself out of energy.

Some people are more tactical and wiser than others with their interrupt spams. That's mostly what interrupt rangers come down to.

Pay attention to casting patterns, learn to interrupt off of KD's by watching the animation, learn to interrupt back to back casting by getting a feel for how long .75s is.
Don't be afraid to use magebane for faster poison spreading, if your team is getting pressure magebane can be used to camp the other team's ranger preparation to relieve pressure.
To really twitch anything below 1s casts though you'll need better ping than 400ms I'm afraid.

Some things are easy to guess, like if an ele uses Glyph of Immolation, expect a Steam to follow shortly afterwards. You'll also want to throw in an interrupt right after someone gets up (it's called quarterbreaking), most bad players have a skill cued so it will cast as soon as possible, it's quite easy to rupt 1/4 cast skills via quarterbreaking, once you get the timing down right.

Well, anyone who says they don't "spam" with bow interrupts is lying because it's simply not possible to be anything besides a poison spreader not doing some strategic spamming here and there. It's not very clever or effective to get in someone's face and twitch everything when the animation starts regardless of what it is. I'm not the greatest ranger but I need a ping under 300 and close range to twitch 3/4s skills (e.g. WoH, ZB, RC) with any degree of reliability...dunno if it's my ISP or the servers but I never get a steady green ping these days so that strategy is a pipe dream.
On the other hand predictive spam based on timing (memorizing skill recharges) and paying attention to kd's can be very effective to interrupt key skills when it really matters.
Another easy picking is glyphs.
Glyph of Lesser Energy --> Big spell soon
Glyph of Immolation --> Steam Incoming
Glyph of Energy (on a mes) --> Gale incoming
When you're spreading poison follow up with magebane half a second or so on players with condition removal, you'll get dismiss and mending touch doing that sometimes if they use it right away.
And like Mitch said don't be afraid to use magebane (or savage) to speed up the poison tabbing, it's still faster with the aftercast and you have d-shot to use too if something comes up when you're tabbing through targets.

i interrupted magebane on a ranger today in RA. As you can see form pic i wasn't spamming interrupts because i still haven't used my savage shot. im sure someone will come up with something to say that i did this in a cheap way, but know that this was both luck and reflex.

Not even a bot could do it that fast. (I have a friend who was into creating an interrupt bot, which actually worked)
That is luck, NOT reflex...
Flight time alone is longer than cast time of Magebane. In other words, YOU pressed your skill before he did, HOW can that be reflex? 99% luck, and 1% anticipating if you ask me. (getting 1/4's is really all about luck, unless it's skills such as rof or ff)

Also, if you're going to be burning the attack for poison spam, do it on a caster. That way, even if you're using it for the poison, there's still a decent chance you're going to catch something.
